《海賊之王——鄭芝龍傳奇》為「2020-21第四屆臺灣戲曲藝術節旗艦製作」，由即將邁向百年的歌仔戲世家明華園戲劇總團，與故事工廠黃致凱、王瓊玲聯手打造，再創臺灣傳統戲劇新視野。
以大航海時代為故事背景，重返天下英雄齊聚臺灣，亞洲地區被捲入前所未見的風暴時刻。一切秩序尚未建立，海上世界沒有公法、沒有規則。臺灣這片土地從一座孤懸海外之島，變身成為兵家必爭的戰略要地，各路豪傑必須在驚心動魄的人性爭伐中殺出血路。
Zheng ZhiLong, The Pirate King of Formosa is the flagship Taiwanese opera production of the 2020–21 season and part of the 4th Taiwan Traditional Theatre Festival. Produced by the almost century-old Ming Hwa Yuan Arts and Culture Group in association with Story Works Theatre Company's Sky HUANG and WANG Chiung-Ling, the opera is set to elevate Taiwan's theatre performances to a whole new level.
It was the era of Great Maritime Exploration. Legendary historical figures arrived in Taiwan. The entire East Asia got caught in a storm on a scale never seen before. There was no order and no rule on the sea. Maritime law would not come into existence for another century. Taiwan, a historically neglected isle off the mainland, leaped into prominence. One must survive the thrilling conquests of humanity and carve out a unique path in order to prevail here.
