洛伊‧哈葛羅是全方位爵士小號奇才，擅長非洲、古巴、嘻哈、節奏藍調、饒舌等音樂風格。1994年專輯【With the Tenors of Our Time】獲得 Down Beat 五顆星最高評價；另以專輯【Habana】及三重奏專輯【Directions in Music】分獲 1998及 2002年葛萊美獎。他獲紐約【村聲雜誌】 樂評讚譽為「溫頓 ‧馬沙利斯後最好的小號手」，亦被稱為是繼佛瑞迪‧赫巴德之後最令人興奮的小號傳人。
The virtuosi jazz trumpet soloist Roy Hargrove is a multi-facet performer who excels in African, Cuban, Hip-hop, Rhythmic blues, and Rap Styles. After performing at a few renowned jazz festivals in Europe and Japan, he was selected as ""the Best Jazz Soloist"" in 1998. His album With the Tenors of Our Time garnered five stars-the highest honor credited by Down Beat in 1994. The album Habana won ""the Best Latin-Jazz Performance"" of the Grammy Award in 1997. He won his second Grammy Award with the album made for trios Directions in Music in 2002. Hargrove has been described by the Village Voice as ""the best jazz trumpet player since Wynton Marsalis and the most exciting since Freddie Hubbard.""
