劇情簡介
冥河四時煙霧瀰漫,豔紅花蕊迎風搖曳,傳說渡過冥河即告別陽世,冥界則是靈魂轉世前的處所,當其「冥壽將盡」便會接到轉世通知。心懷遺憾不願喝湯的轉生者,孟婆將安排他們前往孟婆客棧,讓客棧員工在七日內化解轉生者心中遺憾。閻王派事業正盛卻意外身亡的萬千帆成為客棧老闆,若能獲得五張五星顧客滿意調查表,便從其所願給予還陽申請書。
冥星歌劇團團長方素秋在住進客棧後離奇失蹤,僅留一本劍俠戲歌仔冊《冥星雙飛俠》。萬千帆推斷她的靈魂已躲進書冊,借得法寶進入書中搜索,誰知竟化身為俠客青冥,與師妹流星一同被牽扯進正派與魔教之爭。萬千帆必須盡快找到方素秋,設法帶她回返現實……

「夫天地者,萬物之逆旅;光陰者,百代之過客。浮生若夢,為歡幾何?」歡迎來到 2024 孟婆客棧!這是一段新故事、新旅程。唐美雲歌仔戲團將 2022 敲響金鐘「戲劇節目創新獎」的電視潮流 IP 劇,透過現代劇場+戲曲+半舞臺劇=MIT 新形態歌舞劇,再現經典!
若看倌們對 2018 年舞臺公演《孟婆客棧》記憶猶新,那請您在鑼鼓響起大幕開之前,想像自己喝下孟婆湯,今日《孟婆客棧:冥星雙飛俠》重新來過!戲中戲plus戲外戲,看似獨立單元,卻又軸心貫通,串聯細節巧思,層次多變與舞臺契合,翻陳出新。人物層次是美感,角色編配是藝術,多重時空是挑戰,2024 劇場版將比電視版勾勒出更多維立體感官的樣貌。
一齣戲好不好看,取決於是否正確發力:以劇本情節發心、延伸,而後決定表演方式與形態,尋找合適演員、音樂、服裝、舞美等等;掌握各環節配合的律動,才能在唱念作打方方面面有效發力,與表演完美融合。歌仔戲舞臺是曠野、不是單軌;路那麼長、海那麼寬,前行不設限。感謝國家兩廳院藝術總監劉怡汝支持、指導,感謝老「棧友」導演戴君芳、編劇陳健星與廖珮宇、舞臺設計王世信、影像設計王奕盛、燈光設計邱逸昕、服裝設計黃文英、作曲編曲姬君達、編腔設計陳歆翰、武打技術編排戴立吾,以及編舞張逸軍等,攜手經歷過種種,我們仍在路上!

導演:戴君芳
二分之一 Q 劇場創團編導,現為國光劇團導演,唐美雲歌仔戲團執導作品為:《燕歌行》、《冥河幻想曲》、《風從何處來》、《夜未央》、《光華之君》、《冥遊記-帝王之宴》、《臥龍:永遠的彼日》、《孟婆客棧:冥星雙飛俠》。曾多次入圍台新藝術獎與傳藝金曲獎,2013 年《亂紅》獲台新藝術獎評審團特別獎,2021 年《光華之君》獲傳藝金曲獎最佳導演獎。國立傳統藝術中心國光劇團支援演出。
編劇:陳健星
戲曲編劇,國立中央大學中國文學系兼任講師。2011 年開啟與「唐美雲歌仔戲團」的合作因緣,投入電視、舞臺歌仔戲劇本創作逾十二年。除改編中外文學經典,更將社會議題引入戲曲。代表作《春櫻小姑─回憶的迷宮》、《冥河幻想曲》、《風從何處來》、《春櫻小姑2-螢姬物語》、《夜未央》、《光華之君》、《冥遊記─帝王之宴》、《臥龍:永遠的彼日》。2019 年擔任電視劇《孟婆客棧》總編劇,2021 年以《光華之君》獲傳藝金曲獎最佳編劇獎,2024 年以《臥龍:永遠的彼日》再度獲此獎項肯定。
編劇:廖珮宇
戲曲編劇,國立臺灣大學戲劇學系研究所碩士。高中參加唐美雲歌仔戲團研習班,從此與歌仔戲結下不解之緣。就讀臺大戲研所時師從王安祈老師修習戲曲編劇,作品感性與理性兼具,擅奇幻書寫。編劇作品為:唐美雲歌仔戲團電視版《孟婆客棧》(編劇團隊一員)、高雄春天藝術節少年歌子培育展演計畫《靈界少年偵察組》、《靈界少年偵察組 II:打怪就是要組隊呀!》(I、II 與劉建幗合編)、《靈界少年偵察組特別篇:永不墜落的星辰》等。

出身於歌仔戲世家,為「戲狀元」蔣武童與名小生唐冰森之女,1997 年創立「唐美雲歌仔戲團」,以「承傳統,創新局」為宗旨,現為劇團團長、藝術總監。自 15 歲粉墨登臺以來,歷經歌仔戲、電視劇、電影、舞臺劇等形式演出,藝術表現深得各界肯定,曾獲國家文藝獎、行政院文化獎、傳藝金曲獎最佳演員獎、金鐘獎戲劇節目女主角獎。

現為國光劇團首席文武老生,胡少安先生嫡傳弟子,能文能武,高亢圓潤的嗓音和細膩有緻的做表,深受各界肯定,著名文學評論家王德威譽之為當代臺灣京劇老生首席名角。曾獲國軍文藝金像獎最佳生角獎、中國文藝獎章、SGI 文化賞、全球中華藝術文化薪傳獎、臺北市第十五屆文化獎等。精擅傳統劇目如《九更天》、《定軍山》、《鼎盛春秋》,其中主演國光新編戲《閻羅夢》獲金鐘獎,《十八羅漢圖》獲台新藝術獎肯定、2023 年獲第三十四屆傳藝金曲獎最佳演員獎。

臺灣歌仔戲界最閃亮的旦角明星,5 歲即以童星之姿參與拱樂社戲劇演出,電視歌仔戲興盛時期曾風靡一時,是觀眾心目中「永遠的娘子」。近年演出以舞臺歌仔戲為主,魅力依舊四射,清亮的嗓音、優美的身段與純熟的演技將觀眾帶入如詩如畫的戲劇裡,論當代歌仔戲女帝肯定非她莫屬。2018 年榮獲第二十九屆傳藝金曲獎戲曲類特別獎。

Synopsiss
It is the fourth hour at the Nether River. Mist shrouds the river, and crimson spider lilies known as the flower of death on the opposite bank sway in the mist. Legend has it that once one crosses the Nether River, they bid goodbye to the mortal world forever. The Nether Realm, a colorful and vibrant world, as exotic as can be, is where souls stay before they go through reincarnation. Toward the end of their afterlife in the Nether Realm, resident souls will receive a Notification of Reincarnation. However, some of these residents might still have regrets and thus refuse to drink Meng Po's soup, which makes them forget their lives before they embark on their new ones. In such cases, Meng Po will arrange for them to visit Hostel Meng Po, where the staff have to resolve their guests' regrets within seven days.
Wan Qian-fan, the new manager of Hostel Meng Po, cannot accept his death by accident just as he got to the highest point of his career. Thus, he requested that the King of the Nether Realm restore him to life. The King puts him in charge of Hostel Meng Po and tells Qian-fan that if he manages to get five five-star reviews in the hostel's customer satisfaction survey, he will give Qian-fan a Revival Application Form. Faced with no other choice, Qian-fan reluctantly takes over the running of the hostel, where he finds himself having to lead a group of odd and playful employees in the quest to fulfill their guests’ wishes.
One day, Fang Su-qiu, the leader of the Underworld Opera Troupe, checks into Hostel Meng Po. During her stay in the hostel, she suddenly vanishes without a trace, leaving behind nothing but a book titled A Lost Actress. Qian-fan deduces that her soul has entered the book. Thus, he borrows the Soul Finder from the Bureau of Magical Treasures and enters the book in his search for Su-qiu. It turns out that it is a book of opera songs written for tales of swordsmen. The world within the book is one of wuxia, a world in which martial artist vigilantes uphold their brand of chivalry and justice.
Qian-fan transforms into Qing ming, one of the wuxia vigilantes in the book's world. He teams up with Liu Xing, a younger female disciple of his master who dresses as a man. Together, they fight injustice in the wuxia world. Soon, Qian-fan realizes that Liu Xing is actually Su-qiu, who has entered this world and is now in so deep that she has forgotten who she really is. Qian-fan has to find a way to bring her back to the real world...

! This is a brand new story and a new journey for us all. This year, Tang Mei Yun Taiwanese Opera Company is bringing back a classic — the award-winning IP TV production that won the 2022 Golden Bell Creative Award! This production, which brings together modern theatrical arts, traditional Taiwanese opera, and a semistaged play is a new form of musical, uniquely made in Taiwan.

Tavern by the Lethe: A Lost Actress
with a fresh pair of eyes! In this production, there is a play within the play, as well as one beyond. At first glance, these acts seem to function independently. However, upon closer scrutiny, one will see that they share a fundamental affinity, which is embodied in the many clever details embedded in the story. The multilayered complexity of the play intersects with the beauty of the stage, resulting in a truly innovative production. The complexity of the characters creates beauty, the production's casting is itself an art, and the multiple timelines present huge challenges. What this means is that the 2024 version of
Tavern by the Lethe
seeks to showcase a story with more depth and sensory engagement than its TV counterpart!
Whether a play is good depends on whether its key elements are tackled well. A good play should begin with a good story, which can then be expanded to include discussions on other elements such as the mode and form of the performance. Only with these considerations in mind can the production team begin its quest for the right actors, music, costumes, stage design, and so on. As the team masters the rhythms of the various components working in sync, they can then fine tune the operatic elements such as singing patterns, speech skills, danceacting, and dance like martial arts effectively, so that they might merge seamlessly with the rest of the performance. We see Taiwanese opera as a vast horizon, not a single-track production. The road ahead is still long, and the sea of possibilities is boundless; there is no reason why we should limit ourselves. Many thanks to the three major performing arts centers in Taiwan, namely the National Theater and Concert Hall, National Taichung Theater, and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts. Special thanks to the Artistic Directors Liu I-ju, Chiu Yuan, and Chien Wen-pin for their support and guidance. My appreciation to Director Dai Chun-fang, who worked on the previous iteration of Tavern by the Lethe with me. My heartfelt thanks also go out to Playwrights Chen Jian-xing and Liao Pei-yu, Set Designer Wang Shi-xin, Visual Designer Wang Yi-sheng, Lighting Designer Qiu Yi-xin, Costume Designer Huang Wenying, Music Composer and Arranger Ji Junda, Vocal Arranger Chen Xin-han, Martial Arts Choreographer Dai Li-wu, and Dance Choreographer Zhang Yi-jun. Since its founding, Tang Mei Yun Taiwanese Opera Company has been upholding the purpose of "Inheriting Tradition and Creating Innovation" and devoted itself to elevating the status of traditional Taiwanese Opera to the level of classical performing arts and to continuously exploring crossover collaborations in the hope to change the stereotypical image of traditional Taiwanese Opera among the general public with various inspirations and innovations.
