出生於1911年的陳泗治，為臺灣以西洋音樂技法創作的先鋒者，1936年在日本伊豆半島完成神劇式的合唱曲《上帝的羔羊》，為臺灣最早的合唱曲，1939年在臺北完成鋼琴組曲《台灣素描》，為臺灣最早的鋼琴曲，紛紛創下紀錄。1981年1月23日赴美定居，1992年9月23日於美國加州過世。2022年適逢陳泗治逝世三十周年，此紀念展覽將呈現陳泗治身為臺灣第一代鋼琴家與作曲家的音樂生涯，展出其擔任牧師與淡江中學校長等重要職務之生前相關的文物，並以數位多媒體、紀錄片方式，讓他的音樂被更多人認識。此展覽以「上帝與家園的浪漫」為展覽主題，為凸顯陳泗治以西方浪漫手法的創作風格，和以基督信仰為中心的生命歷程與活動，也呼應今年為馬偕在臺宣教150年，展覽內容包括陳泗治生命簡史與日治時期的「鄉土訪問音樂演奏會」、陳泗治的啟蒙老師，即被稱為「北部教會音樂之母」的吳威廉牧師娘 — 吳瑪利、亦師亦友的德明利宣教師，被呂泉生尊稱為臺灣合唱之父的陳清忠，樂譜出版與唱片CD，和陳泗治數十年來的筆記、講道稿等，讓參觀的民眾體會到被敬稱為「音樂哲人」的陳泗治他集傳道、創作與教學的偉大一生。
Born in 1911, CHEN Su-ti was a pioneer musician in Taiwan who adopted western composing techniques. In 1936, he completed the oratorio-style chorus The Lamb of God—Taiwan's first chorus, in Izu Peninsula, Japan, and in 1939, completed the piano suites Taiwan Sketches—Taiwan's first piano piece, in Taipei, setting successive records. He moved to the United States on January 23, 1981 and passed away in California on September 23, 1992. The year 2022 marks the 30th death anniversary of CHEN Su-ti. This commemorative exhibition will present his musical career as a first-generation pianist and composer in Taiwan, cultural relics related to his roles as a pastor and the principal of Tamkang Senior High School, and makes use of digital multimedia and documentaries to allow more people to recognize his music. Under the theme Love for God and Homeland, this exhibition not only highlights CHEN Su-ti's western romantic-style composing techniques and his life course and events based on a Christian faith, but as this year coincides with the 150th anniversary of Rev. MACKAY's mission in Taiwan, also includes a brief history of CHEN Su-ti's life and the Hometown Visit Concert from during the Japanese colonial period. Elements such as his mentor Margaret GAULD- known as the "Mother of Northern Church Music" and wife of Rev. William GAUL, Miss Isabel Taylor, a teacher and friend, CHEN Ching-chung – named by LU Chuan-sheng as the "Father of Chorus in Taiwan", published music scores and CDs, as well as CHEN Su-ti's notes and sermon notes over the past few decades will allow attendees to experience CHEN's great life of preaching, composing and teaching.
