貝多芬的第五號交響曲《命運》始於c小調；終於C大調，一反當時結束與開始樂章同調性的習慣，而他說「歡樂隨著悲傷、陽光–雨。 讓我感到彷彿我正仰望晚星銀光閃閃。」無論社會局勢與思潮如何變化，貝多芬從耳疾絕望中奮起，不停在藝術中找尋自由。正因此，後世總以他的音樂或表彰或紀念巨人的奮鬥過程。尤其「命運」的第三樂章末至第四樂章，音樂匍匐前進，困頓摸索，而終至銅管大放異彩，彰顯「光明將戰勝黑暗」的精神大旗。
同場音樂會並邀請中提琴家Paul Neubauer與藝術總監胡乃元共同演出「交響協奏曲」。據聞中提琴是莫札特喜愛的樂器之一，而他離世三年前所創作的慢板與賦格，始與終都在c小調上，TC以此曲揭開音樂會序幕，用以呼應同樣調性、卻終於光明勝利的貝多芬《命運》。

Beethoven pulled himself together from the despair in his hearing loss, seeking for freedom in arts. Therefore, the later generations always played his music to admire or memorize the struggles of great musicians. Especially in the end of the third movement to the fourth movement, the orchestra begins to build, but never reaches the climax of the phrase. At the finale is a powerful brass segment, highlighting the spiritual flag of "darkness cannot overcome the light" fluttering. Violaist Paul Neubauer was invited to perform Sinfonia Concertante (Symphony-Concerto) with the artistic director Nai-Yuan Hu at the concert. It is generally believed that the viola is one of Mozart's favorite instruments. His string quintets are often written for two violas, rather than two cellos. The adagio and fugue pieces he created three years before he passed away all start and end in C minor. TC used this song as the overture of the concert to echo with Beethoven's Fate as they share the same key, but the latter finishes in the light of victory.
