「湖底之鬼」是由來臺定居已進入第三十年的日籍音樂人櫻井弘二擔任全劇作曲與編劇創意，透過情感豐沛的旋律，在笙、二胡、琵琶、大提琴、擊樂、鍵盤、電子音樂與人聲的跨界交融下，跳脫時空框架，引領觀眾進入故事情境，讓觀眾藉由聽覺來拓展出更多自由想像的空間。
本劇靈感來自《聊齋誌異》中的〈王六郎〉，敘述漁夫老許和水鬼王六郎因酒結識而成莫逆之交。編導鄭詠珊由此發展成為一個全新故事，加入老許妻子、水仙花妖等人物，加重情感刻劃，也使劇情更為豐富。
本節目運用具有環場效果的「d&b Soundscape」聲音景觀系統於劇場演出當中，為觀眾增添更為生動有趣的聽覺經驗，並將提供每位觀眾一副眼罩，可全程或分段配戴體驗，以純粹的聽覺來觀賞整場演出，讓音樂說故事給你聽。
Deep Lake Man was composed and written by Japanese musician Koji SAKURAI, who has lived in Taiwan for the past 30 years. The piece's copious emotional melodies and the vast combination of sounds involving the sheng, erhu, pipa, cello, percussion instruments, keyboard, electronic music, and human vocals create a story that transcends time, leading the audience to immerse themselves in the story and broadening one's realm of imagination while listening. The piece was inspired by the story of WANG Liulang published in Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, which depicts the close friendship between an old fisherman named HSU and a water ghost called WANG Liulang. Stage director CHENG Yung-san built upon the folktale and created a whole new story, adding additional characters such as HSU's wife and a daffodil fairy, and strengthening aspects of emotional characterization in the story, resulting in a richer storyline. In this show, the surround sound system “d&b Soundscape” will be employed in theatrical performance, providing lively and interesting auditory experiences for the audience. Each audience member will be given a blindfold. The audience can decide if they wish to wear it all the time or just for several parts, to immerse in the performance with simply the auditory sense.
