本節目運用具有環場效果的「d&b Soundscape」聲音景觀系統，並提供每人一副眼罩，可全程或分段配戴，以純粹的聽覺來欣賞整場演出，讓音樂說故事給你聽。本劇靈感來自《聊齋誌異》中的〈王六郎〉，敘述漁夫老許和水鬼王六郎因酒結識而成莫逆之交。編導鄭詠珊由此發展成為一個全新故事，加入老許妻子、水仙花妖等人物，加重情感刻劃，也使劇情更豐富。來臺定居邁入三十年的音樂人櫻井弘二擔任全劇作曲與共同編劇，在笙、二胡、琵琶、大提琴、鋼琴、擊樂、電子音樂與人聲的跨界交融下，跳脫時空框架，引領觀眾進入故事情境。
第一幕
失足跌入湖中喪命的青年因忘記名字而無法投胎。直到一日漁夫老許的一杯清酒喚醒了他的意識，他以人形現身老許面前，兩人一見如故，每晚相約捕魚、把酒言歡......
第二幕
風和日麗的這一天是水鬼王六郎的投胎日，老許擔心又好奇地來到湖邊，果然見到一位婦人不慎跌入水中，只見她奮力掙扎卻越沉越深，當老許天人交戰該不該出手相救時，婦人卻奇蹟似地被推回岸上......
第三幕
再次經歷生離死別的老許雖然撿回一命，卻失去了活下去的意義，當他決定要放棄一切離開時，平日沒有太多交集的鄰居們竟送來不少東西給他傍身，看著這些沒什麼價值卻充滿溫暖的心意，老許意識到原來他並不孤單。
In this show, the surround sound system "d&b Soundscape" will be employed in theatrical performance. Each audience member will be given a blindfold. The audience can decide whether they wish to wear it all the time or just for several parts, to immerse in the performance simply
with the auditory sense.
The piece was inspired by the story of WANG Liulang, published in Strange Tales, which depicts the close friendship between an old fisherman and a w ater ghost called WANG Liulang. Stage director CHENG Yung-san built upon the f olktale and created a whole new story, adding additional characters. Deep Lake Man was composed and written by Japanese musician Koji SAKURAI, based in Taiwan for the past 30 years. The piece's vast combination of sounds involving the sheng, erhu, pipa, cello, piano, percussion instruments, keyboard, electronic music, and human vocals creates a story that transcends time, leading the audience to immerse themselves in the story.
Act 1
The ghost of a young man, WANG Liulang, who drowned after falling into a lake, has been unable to reincarnate as a r esult of forgetting his own name. One day, it is reawakened with a cup of wine from fisherman named HSU. Taking human form, the ghost appears to HSU, and the two click right aways as if they were old friends. They meet every night to enjoy fishing, drinking and talking together.
Act 2
On the beautiful day that Liulang is to be reincarnated, HSU comes to the lakeshore with worries and curiosity. As expected, he sees a w oman accidentally fall into the water and sink despite struggling with all her might. As he is hesitating about whether to save her or not, something miraculously pushes her up and onto the shore......
Act 3
Experiencing bidding farewell between life and death once again, although HSU survives after nearly losing his life, he feels he has lost reasons to live. Just as he decides to give up everything and quietly leave this place, his neighbors, who usually have little to do with him, give him gifts. Though these things seem valueless, they make HSU feel cared for and he realizes that he is not alone after all.
