前言

回望「兩廳院夏日爵士」這23年，我們始終致力於讓爵士樂獨特而多變的風貌被更多樂迷聽見與感受。正因它兼具反叛精神與包容本質，才能發展出如此豐富多元的樣貌。今年，兩廳院繼續扮演世界與臺灣爵士之窗的角色，邀請活躍於全球頂尖舞臺的傑出樂手，從名為「爵士」的宇宙中，精選多位風格鮮明的名家登場。

以「Sounds Cool!」為題，今年夏天將帶來五檔精彩節目。除了兩位重量級國際大師外，「定番」的節慶樂團及戶外派對亦不容錯過。廣受好評的「輕鬆自在場」今年持續推出全新製作，攜手臺灣優秀音樂家，透過對談與合作，持續挖掘屬於這片土地的爵士語彙。

此外，臺上精彩，臺下也熱鬧。今年夏天，從開幕酷派對到永續市集，更規劃專題講座、公開彩排、大師班等豐富周邊活動。「兩廳院夏日爵士」，邀您一同沁涼度夏！

關於海拔之上

大自然是我重要的創作養分。我喜歡到處旅行，站在山脊上面對疾風、走在隨時能吞沒時間的沙漠、浮盪在群島間的漣漪、踩在噴出嗆鼻熱氣的火山……地球如此多變又不可思議的樣貌，總是美得令人激動，讓我相信大自然是最偉大的藝術家。

於是我想以「地形」為主題發想成一系列的創作，也就是Land forms計劃。

「Landforms」是地形的英文，而我刻意把它拆成兩個字，強調Land（土地）forms（形成，動詞）的動態，提醒著自己，這片看似靜止的大地其實一直都在呼吸、變化，如同我想做的音樂一樣。

因此我將行走於不同土地的觀察與記憶寫成歌，把大地的輪廓畫進旋律，把踩踏過的步伐寫進節奏，將毛細孔感受到的濕度及溫度，都疊進一層層的聲響裡，濃縮成七首詩曲：群島、高地、山脊、潮閒、火山、圈谷及沙丘。其中兩首有幸能在兩廳院夏日爵士首演。

在這次特別的旅程中，我邀請了一群很棒的樂手朋友們：陳奕欣、蕭育融、彭書禹、謝智揚及Vicky，首次嘗試這可溫厚可輕盈的六重奏編制。用我熟悉的爵士聲響，結合與土地最接近的巴西、非洲等世界音樂節奏，以民謠說唱的方式，加上人類自古以來置身遼闊大地時就會情不自禁發出的呼喊，衝撞並勾勒出多種不同的壯麗地景。希望大家能跟我們一起在演奏廳，享受這趟海拔之上的聽覺旅程。

關於演出者

歌手、鋼琴｜羅妍婷

來自高雄的爵士創作歌手、編曲家及製作人，喜愛說故事的任何形式。畢業於成功大學工業設計系，2015年前往荷蘭專攻爵士樂，畢業於阿姆斯特丹音樂院，演出足跡遍及臺灣、荷蘭、瑞典、義大利、西班牙、日本、澳洲等國家。妍婷含蓄的詞曲包覆著澎湃的想像力，以深厚的爵士底子和不屈服於類型框架的個性，唱出她的日常觀察及生存過的痕跡，將爵士昇華至獨具個人特色的詩意展現。發行專輯《葉片之上》、《蒼鷺十三號》、《Off-Score》、《Land forms》、《Pages of Months》等作品，多次獲金音創作獎「最佳爵士專輯」及全球音樂獎金獎，今年也獲傳藝金曲獎「最佳作詞」提名。

鼓組、打擊｜陳奕欣

現任台語創作樂團「百合花」團員之一，曾獲第三十三屆金曲獎最佳台語專輯獎、以及入圍多項金曲獎與金音創作獎。同時也擔任行草樂團、TryAngle樂團鼓手，合作音樂人包括羅妍婷、椅子樂團、恐龍的皮等，多年耕耘臺灣獨立及流行音樂圈。

自幼以打擊樂為興趣，高中轉向室內外管樂以及Drum Corp類型音樂，大學時開始學習爵士鼓演奏。2011年獲得臺中爵士音樂節新秀比賽第三名，2016年獲得臺北爵士音樂節新秀比賽第三名，2019年入圍海洋音樂祭決賽前十強樂團。

吉他、斑鳩琴｜蕭育融

現任烏流樂團之吉他手，曾獲得2021臺灣原創流行音樂大獎之首獎及現場表演獎、2023貢寮海洋音樂祭之海洋獨立音樂大賞。音樂上的個性來自於對民謠、爵士、巴西音樂、R&B以及其他即興音樂及實驗聲響的喜愛。

跨足於多樣不同的音樂場景，曾參與羅妍婷、Mandark、楊斯琪、百合花、陳以恆、羅莎莎、Ruby潘子爵等音樂家、歌手及樂團之錄音與現場演出，並曾與長榮交響樂團合作，於國家音樂廳、衛武營及臺中歌劇院演出。

低音提琴、合音｜謝智揚

作曲編曲家，爵士低音提琴及電貝士演奏，歌手。

以爵士低音提琴家及歌手的身份，於北部各大爵士音樂展演場所演出外，多次在臺中爵士音樂節、兩廳院夏日爵士演出。2021年和多位優秀歌手組成「臺北人聲爵士樂團」，樂團陸續於中山堂及臺中爵士音樂節、臺北爵士音樂節演出，獲得熱烈迴響。

除此之外也曾受邀為臺北爵士大樂隊（TJO）、踢霹歐爵士大樂團（TPO）、臺北市立國樂團、兩廳院夏日爵士等單位及活動，擔任作曲及編曲的工作。2020年，受邀為王若琳金曲獎特別演唱曲目〈愛人〉擔任音樂總監。2011自北德州大學爵士音樂系碩士畢業後，返國即於輔仁大學音樂學系任教。

合音、長笛｜Vicky Sun

從小就愛好音樂，就學期間曾經玩過鋼琴、合唱團、管樂團、打擊樂團、弦樂團等各種領域，是在2013年才拾起一把吉他自學演奏技巧跟歌曲寫作，到2016年才正式開始以表演維生。但是Vicky最擅長的還是外文歌唱，擅長運用不同腔調及對多國語言的熟稔，將各種歌曲與情緒唱到位，又能詮釋出自己獨特跟舒適的風格。

這幾年來除了自己抱著一把吉他表演，更與各領域跟曲風優秀音樂人與樂團合作演出，也擅長當各大小活動的主持人或是當口譯跟聲優，是國內崛起的爵士女聲。

七弦吉他、合音｜彭書禹

專長為吉他演奏、作曲和編曲，特別擅長拉丁風格。儘管最初學習的是古典吉他和爵士音樂，受拉丁音樂濃厚興趣的驅使下，他多次前往巴西和阿根廷，在吉他大師Alessandro Penezzi、Mauricio Carrilho和Cesar Angeleri指導下深造。2009年，他和朋友一起創立了ChoroFun樂團，這是臺灣第一支演奏巴西Choro音樂的樂團，並於2010年發布了他們的首張專輯《咻樂風—出發》。他也涉足流行音樂領域，為以莉．高露的專輯編曲錄音，並常於亞洲重要音樂節上演出。2019年，他以全新的形式融合臺灣和巴西音樂於臺灣世界音樂節上演出，受策展人一致好評。2021年，他所製作專輯《Bossa Zoo》獲第三十二屆傳藝金曲獎提名最佳跨界音樂專輯和最佳製作人。目前於國立臺北藝術大學擔任「風格探討與合奏演繹課」講師，時常邀請國內外優秀音樂家舉辦巴西音樂工作坊。

Looking back on the 23-year journey of NTCH Summer Jazz, we've remained committed to bringing the unique and ever-changing character of jazz to more music lovers. It is precisely because jazz possesses both a rebellious spirit and an inclusive nature that it has been able to blossom into such rich and diverse expressions. This year, NTCH continues to serve as a window between Taiwan and the global jazz scene, inviting world-renowned artists to bring their distinct styles to the stage, each a shining star from the boundless universe we call "jazz."

Under the theme "Sounds Cool!", this summer, NTCH Summer Jazz will feature five spectacular programs. In addition to two international heavyweights, our signature "NTCH Summer Jazz Project" and outdoor party are not to be missed. The well-received "Relaxed Performance" continues to present a brand-new production this year, collaborating with Taiwan's exceptional musicians through dialogue and partnerships to further explore the jazz vocabulary rooted in this land.

And the excitement isn't limited to the stage—the off-stage activities are equally vibrant. This summer, from the Opening Party to the sustainability-themed market, we have planned a range of rich peripheral activities, including themed lecture, open rehearsal, and masterclass. About Performers

Vocal & Piano｜ YenTing Lo

YenTing Lo is a jazz singer-songwriter, pianist, flutist and producer from Kaohsiung. A graduate of the Conservatory of Amsterdam specializing in jazz, YenTing's imaginative composition and poetic lyrics earned her Golden Indie Music Best Jazz Album award for her albums Epiphyllum (2019) and The 13th Heron (2020), also listed as New & Notable on Bandcamp's frontpage, as well as Best Lyrics nomination in Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music, for her live EP Land forms (2024). YenTing has performed widely in genres including jazz, pop, classical and musical theater on stages across Taiwan, as well as internationally in Japan, Australia and all over Europe. An artist with a passion for storytelling, YenTing just released her latest album Pages of Months, and has been developing an interactive music project called Off-Score.

Drums & Percussion｜ Dee Chen

Currently a member of the Taiwanese band "Lilium," which won the Best Taiwanese Album Award at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards, and has been nominated for multiple Golden Melody Awards and Golden Indie Music Awards.

She is also the drummer of Grass Walkers and TryAngle, and has collaborated with musicians including YenTing Lo, The Chairs, and the Dinosaur's Skin, contributing to the Taiwanese independent and pop music scene for many years.

Guitar & Banjo｜ YuJung Hsiao

Currently the guitarist of the oo-Lau Band, he won the First Prize and Live Performance Award at the 2021 Taiwan Music Composition and Songwriting Contest, as well as the Independent Music Award at the 2023 Ho-hai-yan Rock Festival.

His work is shaped by his love for folk, jazz, Brazilian music, R&B, and other forms of improvised music and experimental sound.

He has ventured into various genres and has participated in recordings and live performances with musicians and groups such as YenTing Lo, Mandark, Szuchi, Lilium, Yi Heng Chen, Sabrina Lo, Ruby Pan, and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra.

Double Bass & Backing Vocal｜ ChihYang Hsieh

As a jazz double bassist and singer, he has performed at major jazz music venues in northern Taiwan and participated in numerous performances at the Taichung Jazz Festival, and NTCH Summer Jazz Festival. In 2021, he formed the "Taipei Jazz Vocals" with several talented singers. The band has performed at Zhongshan Hall, Taichung Jazz Festival, and Taipei Jazz Festival, receiving enthusiastic responses.

Besides, he has also been invited to compose and arrange music for various groups such as the Taipei Jazz Orchestra (TJO), TPO Big Band, Taipei Chinese Orchestra, NTCH Summer Jazz Festival and others. In 2020, he was invited to serve as the musical director for Joanna Wang's special performance piece Lover at the Golden Melody Awards.

After graduating with a Master's degree in Jazz Music from the University of North Texas in 2011, he returned to Taiwan and began teaching at the Music Department of Fu Jen Catholic University.

Backing Vocal & Flute｜ Vicky Sun

Starting from a young age, Vicky has played piano, sung in vocal groups, and played various instruments in concert bands, strings orchestras, and even a percussion group at one point. In 2013, she picked up a guitar and taught herself how to play, but it wasn't until 2016 that she officially started performing onstage. All this aside, Vicky's specialty is still in vocal work, where she sings in multiple languages using her skills as a polyglot and an accent parrot to bring her own interpretation to each song.

Apart from performing solo with her guitar, Vicky also collaborates with different groups in different genres while occasionally acting as MC for various events, working as a translator/interpreter, or lending her voice to voice acting or recording materials.

Seven-string Guitar & Backing Vocal｜ Bruce Peng

Specializing in guitar performance, composition, and arrangement, Bruce Peng has expertise in Latin music. Initially trained in classical guitar and jazz, his deep passion for Latin music led him to travel multiple times to Brazil and Argentina, where he studied under renowned guitar masters such as Alessandro Penezzi, Mauricio Carrilho, and Cesar Angeleri.

In 2009, he co-founded ChoroFun, Taiwan's first ensemble dedicated to Brazilian Choro music, and in 2010, the group released its debut album ChoroFun—Departure. Beyond Choro, he has also contributed to the pop music scene, arranging and recording for Golden Melody Award-winning singer Ilid Kaolo. His performances have taken him to major music festivals across Asia. In 2021, the album Bossa Zoo, which he produced, was nominated for Best Crossover Music Album and Best Producer at the 32nd Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music.

He currently teaches the course "Style Exploration and Ensemble Interpretation" at Taipei National University of the Arts and frequently collaborates with both local and international musicians to host Brazilian music workshops.
