The National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan (NCO) is being administered by the Preparatory Office of the National Headquarters of Taiwan Traditional Arts (NHTTA) under the Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA). The mission of the NCO is not only to promote new musical works from local music sources as a state-Ievel performing group, but also to transmit the beauty of Taiwanese music through its performance. The repertoire of the orchestra covers both the traditional and contemporary work. Besides the music itself, some ingredients from drama, dance, art, poetry and literature are included in order to present the multi-faces of Chinese music and its modern appearance as well. The NCO usually serves as the cultural ambassador of the Republic of China. It distributes the beauty of music, and also illuminates the high level development of Chinese music in Taiwan. In 2011, the album "The Beautiful Taiwan" brings NCO the best Folk Music Album Award in the traditional music category of the 22nd Golden Melody Awards. This is a great honor to a performing art group, and affirms the significant achievement of NCO.
