自2008年12月5日於國家劇院首演的那一天開始，這部戲演遍世界上有中國人的地方，把臺灣眷村這段差一點被歷史遺忘的故事深深植入各處中華子弟心中。《寶島一村》總演出場次將近300場，創造40萬名觀眾，魅力已經橫掃全球華人世界，是華語劇場罕見的紀錄。這是眷村的故事，也是臺灣的故事。願《寶島一村》散發出的生命力能讓我們更珍惜我們的歷史、及我們的生命。
The Village is based partially on childhood stories of Taiwan's most prominent television producer, Wang Weizhong, and is written and directed by Stan Lai, the most celebrated playwright-director of his generation. Since its premiere in 2008, the play has electrified audiences throughout the Chinese speaking world, becoming one of the milestone productions of recent years. The Village is a theatrical record of a special piece of history. It is an epic and radiant celebration of life in all its tragic and comic splendor.
