《海神家族》是陳玉慧的半自傳小說，獲得多項文學大獎，享譽國際。該書是台灣近年來的文學暢銷書，曾被學者譽為台灣之「國族寓言」，許多讀者並認為是「台灣人必讀的一本小說」。

《海神家族》一劇擷取原著小說中第一代家族中的叔公、外公以及外婆的淒美愛情故事，結合超現實影像、西洋歌劇詠嘆調、現代前衛舞蹈，更是歌仔戲演唱的革命性突破。本劇故事穿梭近代台灣歷史，以拼貼、蒙太奇敘事與非敘事手法呈現，透過一個台灣女子的尋根溯源，揭露橫跨三代家族史的內幕幽黯與祕密，展現如史詩般的文學音樂劇場。

著名派歐作家、新聞特派員、導演和編劇。現移居德國。曾就讀法國知名表演學院 ( L’ecole Jacques Lecoq ) ，參予歐美重要劇場的演出，於紐約與台灣執導多齣舞臺劇，舞台劇作品「戲螞蟻」被遠東經濟評論雜誌譽為當年最傑出作品。曾在組約及巴黎擔任駐外記者及編譯，現任台灣聯合報駐歐洲特派員，經常出入戰爭及國際現場，訪問廿多名國家元首及菁英，活躍於國際文化交流領域，為國際表演藝術策展人，參予多項大型表演藝術活動策劃，如2006年為台灣兩廳院策劃「世界之窗系列-德國狂潮」表演藝術節，廣受好評。若有《徵婚啟事》 ( 1992 ) 、《海神家族》 ( 2004 ) 等暢銷小說，並不定期為多家德語媒體如法蘭克褔廣訊報 ( Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ) 及南德日報 ( Sueddeutsche Zeitung ) 撰稿。曾多次獲台灣新聞及文學獎項，並為2007年台灣國家文學獎及第一屆紅樓夢獎 ：世界華文長篇小說獎決審團獎得主。《海神家族》已翻譯成德文，後續將會有英文版及日文版。

Chen, playwright and director She is famous novelist who travels around Europe, and also a correspondent, director, and playwright, who currently resides in Germany. She once studied at the famous International Theatre School Jacques Lecoq, participating in important theatrical performances in Europe. Also, she has directed many productions in New York and Taiwan, including her own works, with her work “Xi Ma Yi” being named the most outstanding work by Far Eastern Economic Review. She is now the European special correspondent from United Daily News and has interviewed over 20 international elites and leaders. She is an international curator of performing arts, and her curated festival “World View Series -Made in Germany” of National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center in 2006 was widely acclaimed. Her works include the best-selling novels The Personals (1992) and Mazu’s Bodyguard (2004), and she also occasionally writes stories for many German presses including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Sueddeutsche Zeitung. She has won many Taiwan literary and journalistic prizes, and she has also won the First Taiwan National Literary Award and Dream of Red Chamber Award for the best full -length novel.
