《伍采克》乃根據真實謀殺案改編而成。
1821年 6月 3日，約翰‧克利斯提安‧伍采克，一名從軍中退伍改行作理髮師的低階士兵，刺死了同居情人。審判期間，醫學專家分析了伍采克的生活經驗與社會地位，並據此推測，社經地位的被剝奪與社會底層的生活塑造出了一種無法延續道德良知的人格。伍采克本人也證實他常會有恐怖的幻覺，並聽見一個驅使他殺了情人的聲音。他於 1824年被公開斬首示眾。
畢希納改編伍采克的故事時，並沒有拘泥於真實事件，遺世之作《伍采克》成為歷史上表現主義戲劇的先聲一個由段落組成的故事，每個段落都極度以個體為中心，破碎的段落串起了一名低階士兵的人生，他受上級奴役，被醫生加入無人性的醫學實驗，進而被逼瘋。
畢希納的《伍采克》主要自一連串被大膽簡化的人生創傷組成：
˙伍采克受盡上尉殘忍羞辱的奴役身份。
˙伍采克與瑪麗的關係：瑪麗為一名蕩婦，並與伍采克育有一名非婚生子。
˙瑪麗的背叛：她和樂隊長發生性關係。
˙醫生利用伍采克進行一連串的醫學暨社會學實驗。
˙長期困擾伍采克的幻覺。
Woyzeck The Sadari Movement Laboratory Based on the play by Georg Buchner Georg Buchner's Woyzeck Woyzeck is based on an actual murder case. On June 3, 1821 , J.C. Woyzeck, a low-level ex-soldier and barber, stabbed to death the woman he had been living with. During his trial , the medical expert examined Woyzeck's life and social standing and speculated that social deprivation and lower-class life creates a person without access to a coherent morality. Woyzeck himself testified to horrifying hallucinations- and to hearing voices that had finally urged him to murder his lover. He was publicly beheaded in 1824. Georg Buchner adapted the facts of Woyzeck's life quite freely and created the world's first expressionist drama-a drama in radically individualized episodes in the life a low-ranking soldier who was driven mad by the Captain who enslaved him and the Doctor who subjected him to dehumanizing medical experiments. The play structures the life in a series of boldly simplified traumas: ˙ Woyzeck's servitude to the Captain who humiliates him brutally; ˙ Woyzeck's relationship with Marie- a prostitute with whom he has an illegitimate child. ˙ Marie's betrayal of Woyzeck when she has a sexual liaison with a Sergeant-Major. ˙ The series of sociological and medical experiments the Doctor subjects Woyzeck to. ˙ The hallucinations that plague Woyzeck.
