《曹國舅》是明華園睽違已久的宮廷大戲，劇情講述曹佾（曹國舅，孫翠鳳飾）身為凡人卻擁有洞知天命的天賦異稟，隨身的雲陽板敲出人世多少天命。
曹佾以此天賦助其姐曹光獻（鄭雅升飾）晉升昭陽，也讓自家兄弟享盡榮華富貴。而曹佾溺愛有加的弟弟曹刺（陳勝在飾）天生體弱多病，患有癲癇之症，卻仗著得來的權貴強奪人妻殺害人命，且每每在壞事作盡之際裝病博取曹佾同情。曹佾在內心糾結之後，放棄良心選擇包庇曹刺，不但造成國家社稷朝綱動搖，使皇帝無德、昭陽無慈、清官脫袍，有冤者無處申冤，殺人者逍遙法外，曹佾這才驚覺自己犯下了天地不容的大錯，面對這滔天之罪，曹佾該如何自容？蓬萊又如何能接受曹佾？
Ming Hwa Yuan’s long awaited drama Royal Uncle Cao tells the story of Cao Yi, who eventually ascends to immortality and becomes one of The Eight Immortals. His gift of divination brings about the marriage of his older sister to the emperor and all her siblings' rising to nobility. When their younger brother, Cao Ci, murders a man to snatch his wife, Cao Yi fails to act on conscience. Instead he tried to cover for Cao Ci, and, in so doing, disgraces his noble relations. His reputation as an upright man is ruined completely for he has wronged the innocent and set the murderer free. The moment of truth arrives finally for Cao Yi to acknowledge his sinful mistakes: Can he ever hold his head up again? Will the deities of Daoism accept him at all?
