二分之ㄧQ劇場第七號實驗崑劇《亂紅》,挑戰經典傳奇《桃花扇》。透過鏡中人與侯方域的相遇,虛實疊映間,那一朵朵扇底紅桃,竟折射出多重的隱喻。《亂紅》既是李香君「臉上桃花做紅雨兒飛落」的濺扇情節,亦是以「桃花亂落如紅雨」的漫天意象,點出侯方域心中的迷亂與糾纏,這也是身處亂世之人終身的徬徨!
明朝最後一個皇帝崇禎自縊的那天,據說是平淡無奇的。就是因為太過平靜,讓人忽略了即將奔騰而來的動盪。秦淮河邊,斷垣殘壁的媚香樓一盞一盞亮起了燈,被戰亂剷平的昨日,又跟著梨園笛聲喧囂起來,文人、烈士、權奸紛紛登場,還有一名不速之客,自鏡中走來,吟唱著陌生的旋律。侯方域坐在案前,為這巨大又無聲的斷裂振筆疾書。不曾料到,這場天崩地裂會讓自己與李香君離散。
The Legend of Peach Blossom Fan: multiple interpretations of a Chinese classical play Article by Shen Hui-ju There is no such thing as truth in history, only stories. No matter what the facts are, people create their own narratives from those facts. Each one of us, through our words, reveals a different “truth”, a different viewpoint from which to view reality. There are various sides to every story, and seeing one from multiple perspectives helps us grasp better the events.KONG Shangren’s Chines opera classic The Peach Blossom Fan reflects the turmoil of an era, while The Legend of the Peach Blossom Fan hopes to explore more interpretations of this well-known story.Two HOU Fang-yus, on two sides of a mirror. The HOU Fang-yu in the mirror serves multiple functions. Sometimes the storyteller; sometimes intervening and offering guidance to characters in the play. The real HOU Fang-yu, however, does not know that empires have fallen and new dynasties have risen from the ashes of old ones. He does not even remember his lover LI Xian-jun. He took easiest way to escape – to forget. But the collision between individuals and the era is not so simple. What words should HOU Fang-yu choose to defend himself? How much courage does it take to face himself? And with what kind of attitude to live in a world he once despises? And the two HOU Fang-yus are dressed in different costumes, one of Ming dynasty and the other of Qing dynasty. The costumes themselves are cultural symbols that give the audiences room for imagination.
