曾為英國國家廣播公司影集《傲慢與偏見》、電影《法國中尉的女人》等撰寫配樂、並與「倫敦愛樂管絃樂團」策劃一系列默片配樂音樂會的電影配樂大師卡爾·戴維斯，首度與NSO合作。音樂會以《費加洛的婚禮》序曲作為開始，從卓別林默片《溜冰場》、到英國動畫電影《雪人》配樂，現場結合多媒體影片，並穿插芭蕾舞劇《胡桃鉗》選曲，讓所有聽眾在五線譜上回味自己的童年夢想。
Emmy-award winning American composer-conductor Carl Davis is an extremely versatile musician. His compositions for a variety of well-known productions, including the BBC's television drama Pride and Prejudice, and the film The French Lieutenant's Woman, have earned him international acclaim. Davis has also composed scores for more than twenty silent films, which he has presented together with the London Philharmonic, as well as several other orchestras around the world.
As guest conductor of NSO for the first time, Davis will present his original score for Charlie Chaplin's silent film The Rink. Also included will be the theme for the British animation movie The Snowman, and excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. This is sure to be a performance for whole family to enjoy.
