威爾第歌劇《唐卡洛》

雖說世間難有絕對，但稱《唐卡洛》是威爾第最豐富、最深刻、最刺激，甚至最偉大的創作，大概也不會招致反對。這原是為巴黎歌劇院——當時全世界資金最充裕、場面最鋪張、資源最豐富的舞台——所費心打造的五幕法文歌劇。首演後威爾第仍不斷修改，七易其稿，最終決定版為1882/83年四幕義語版，正是此次衛武營要呈現的經典。
《唐卡洛》改自席勒同名戲劇，劇中所有人都身不由己：法國公主伊莉莎白和西班牙王子唐卡洛情投意合，卻被迫嫁給唐卡洛之父菲利普二世。宮廷貴族愛波莉公主情繫唐卡洛，因妒生恨構陷王后，又委身成為孤獨國王的情婦。忠心臣子羅德利果為爭取宗教自由的法蘭德斯請命，大審判長則要他的項上人頭。宮鬥可比《甄嬛傳》，陰謀不輸《瑯琊榜》，在親子衝突、情愛糾葛、政治撕扯之外，《唐卡洛》還有王權與神權的鬥爭，讓人膽戰心驚又大呼過癮。
面對錯綜複雜的劇情，威爾第直球對決，寫出火力全開的詠嘆調與二重唱，以及壯麗又暗黑，恐怖直入人心的火刑場景，堪稱集德國戲劇、法式排場與義大利音樂之大成。多樣角色對應各類聲種，也讓《唐卡洛》成為豪華的聲樂饗宴。它是歌劇黃金時代最燦爛的產物，卻永遠不過時。其開放式的結局，更讓導演大展長才。跨國合作，臺灣首演，您絕對不能錯過！
Although there are few absolutes in this world, the prevailing opinion is that Don Carlo is Giuseppe VERDI's richest, most profound, most exciting, and possibly even his greatest creation. This work was originally a five-act, French-language opera commissioned for the Paris Opera, which was at that time the best funded, most ornate, and most resource-rich theater in the world. VERDI continued revising the opera after its premiere. After seven revisions, the final version was a four-act, Italian-language opera completed in 1882-83. This is the version that Weiwuying is staging.
Don Carlo is based on Friedrich SCHILLER's play Don Carlos. In the story, all the characters are constrained. French Princess Elisabetta and Spanish Prince Don Carlo are in love, but she is forced to marry Carlo's father, King Filippo II. Princess Eboli is in love with Carlo. She frames the queen out of jealousy and hatred, while being the king's mistress herself. The loyal nobleman Rodrigo risks his life to plead for religious freedom for Flanders, and the Grande Inquisitore demands his execution. The plot involves intense palace infighting and intrigue. In addition to parent-child friction, amorous entanglements, and political conflicts, Don Carlo also shows the struggle between kingship and religious authority, which both agitates and enthralls people.
VERDI's response to the tangled and complicated plot was to cut to the chase. He composed powerful arias and duets, as well as magnificent yet dark and terrifying scenes. It can be said this work is the culmination of German drama, French grand opera, and Italian music. The diverse roles call for a full vocal range, making Don Carlo a sumptuous vocal music feast. It is also the most brilliant product of opera's golden age and a timeless classic. The open ending of Don Carlo gives directors the opportunity to show their creativity. This is the premiere of this multinational co-production in Taiwan, and you won't want to miss it!
