葛利格：給絃樂團的霍爾堡組曲

為紀念文豪霍爾堡誕辰兩百週年而作。原先是以鋼琴曲寫成，隨即將它改編成絃樂演奏版本，於1885年由葛利絡親自指揮首演。樂曲包含五段音樂：前奏曲、薩拉邦德舞曲、嘉禾舞曲、抒情調以及黎高東舞曲 ( Rigaudon ) 。以法國舞曲組曲形式為主，創作屬於霍爾堡年代的音樂特徵，有著巴羅克時期音樂華麗之美，卻也流露作者浪漫派的手法與樂思。

布魯赫：給中提琴與絃樂團的猶太禱文，編號48

展現猶太音樂內斂之美，布魯赫原以管絃樂伴奏大提琴獨奏的形式創作此曲。樂曲主要由兩段猶太旋律構成，具有神秘冥想的氣氛：其一是希伯來古老的宗教歌曲，內容描寫耶穌替世人贖罪受難的情景；其二是中段的旋律，來自拜倫填詞的歌曲〈為在巴別塔哭泣的人流淚〉，故事出於舊約聖經的〈創世紀〉。布魯赫擅長將民謠藝術化，藉由親切的旋律創造聽覺上的美感。

巴赫：布蘭登堡協奏曲第三號

知名的《布蘭登堡協奏曲》，內含六部樂器編製各不相同協奏曲，洋溢獨特色彩與魅力，於1721年由巴赫呈獻給魯道夫大公。第三號布蘭登堡協奏曲僅用了絃樂器：各三把小提琴、中提琴與大提琴，一把低音提琴與一部大鍵琴。這種編制使樂曲像一部室內樂作品，聲部之間的對話更顯重要。全曲有三個樂章。

辛德密特：給中提琴與絃樂團的喪樂

這是辛德密特得悉國王喬治五世駕崩的消息後所完成作品，可說就是為國王而寫的哀樂。從作曲到綵排，一切都在音樂會演出前的幾個小時內匆匆進行，然而音樂卻細緻、感人，擁有寧靜與安定的力量。

柴科夫斯基：給絃樂團的 C 大調小夜曲，編號48

捨棄木管與銅管，「情歌式」的音樂，完全由音色細膩的絃樂來詮釋。沒有交響曲既定的框架，讓甜美的旋律盡情發展，吟唱飽滿的情感。全曲共四個樂章：第一樂章是少見的小奏鳴曲的形式，展現歡欣愉快的本質；第二樂章的圓舞曲是最受歡迎的樂段；第三樂章情緒陷入惆悵，憂鬱的氣息流露了斯拉夫民族特有的哀愁性格；繼之的斯拉夫舞曲，突破前有的陰霾，奏出快活的第四樂章，以明亮燦爛作為總結。

E. GRIEG: Holberg suite for strings This suite was written to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the great writer Holberg's birth. Though it was originally composed for piano, it was later adapted for strings and was conducted by Grieg himself during the premiere in 1885 . The suite consists of a Prelude, Sarabande, Gavotte, Air, and Rigaudon. This French dance illusulltes not only the magnificent beauty of the Baroque period, but also the composer's romantic approach and musical genius. M. C. F. BRUCH：“Kol Nidrei” (old Jewish prayer) for viola and strings, Op. 48. Soloist Yuri Bashmet (viola) In order to express the beauty of typically reserved Jewish music, Bruch originally arranged this masterpiece for philharmonic orchestra to accompany the cello. Two Jewish melodies create a mysterious mood for meditation. One of them is a traditional Hebrew religious song which describes the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The other includes Byron's lyrics re-telling stories from Genesis in the Old Testament from the Bible. All in all, Bruch is a master at turning folk songs into polished art, creating a beautiful melody for the audience through familiar rhythms. J.S.BACH：Brandenburg Concerto,No. 3 The well-known Brandenburg Concerti contains various orchestrations of six instrumental works. Filled with uniqueness and charm, the concerto No. 3 was dedicated to Archduke Rudolph by Bach in 1721. 1n utilizing only three sets of violin, violas, and cellos, one double bass, and one harpsichord, Bach has transformed this concern to into grand chamber music. Above all , these movements demonstrate the imporntance of voice harmony. P. HINDEMITH：Trauermusik for viola and strings As soon as Hindemith heard the news of King George V's death, he swiftly completed this masterpiece to memorialize the King. Though it only took several hours to compose and rehearse this piece, the music is so detailed and moving that it evokes an indescribably powerful peace. P. I. TCHAIKOVSKY：Serenade for strings in C Major, Op. 48 Without woodwind and brass instruments, this piece of music has a “love song” approach、 brightened by the delicacy of the strings. Affection overflows the confines of the symphony, dripping out in sweet melodies. There are four movements to the serenade: the first is in the form of a seldom seen “sonatina”that illustrates the Slavic people's cheerful nature. The second movement is an admired waltz, while the third movement falls into melancholy that reveals the sorrowful side of the Slavic people. The last movement brings light back to the serenade and concludes it vividly with a Slavic dance.
