Messiah of George Frideric Handel is perhaps one of the most famous piece of music known throughout our world. And it carries a message to people everywhere one that they have believed in, or that they have enjoyed. Probably more people in the world have sung parts, or all, of Handel's Messiah than any other piece of music ever written. I find that no matter where I go as a musician, when they find out that I direct choruses, they always ask, “Do you do Handel's ‘Messiah’?” And I tell them yes, and their face lights up. They're just thrilled. It has a lot of messages that it sends to people, if you never heard the texts that goes with it. The music can raise your spirits very much. Handel had a gift for writing music that its uplifting, and with soloists and a chorus, especially the wonderful soloists and chorus that we'll have in this evening performance, it becomes a very personaI, pleasurable and uplifting experience for everyone who hear these performances. I had the pleasure now of working with the chorus, with the soloists and with the orchestra. All of them are anxious to do a fine performance. And I am looking forward to creating a moving experience for everybody. It is a very rewarding experience for me to be here in this beautiful hall, and in this lovely land that I am visiting for the first time. And I am pleased to have this opportunity through the kind invitation of Dr. Serene Liang. I thank everybody who made this experience possible. And I hope you will enjoy this evening’s performance as much as we have enjoyed preparing it for you. Guest Conductor, Paul Traver
