【寂寞沙洲冷】吳興國主演《問樵鬧府‧打棍出箱》 一個在荒山中窮途而哭的書生,范仲禹,並不知已中狀元,為了尋找失落的妻兒,從樵夫口中問出了兒子被獵戶救走,妻子被葛登雲所劫,他鬧進葛府,被誆騙灌醉,遇害裝進箱內。
林懷民、蔣勳高度推崇一齣百看不厭的絕品好戲。主人翁在空白茫漠的天地之中,生命悠悠無盡,他因極端恐懼悲苦,反而用瘋瘋癲癲、戲謔玩笑的方式,透視出人世的荒謬。台灣四大老生,已故的周正榮老師演來傳神,有精采獨到之處,已臻出神入化的境界。為紀念恩師,吳興國率領年青優秀的丑角演員林朝緒、謝冠生,以周派風格演出,向這位學生貢獻京劇藝術的先師致敬。
【英雄美少年】林朝緒主演《時遷偷雞》 京劇《時遷偷雞》是清代名目繁多的水滸戲之一:楊雄與石秀結拜弟兄,翠屏山智殺淫僧淫婦,路遇時遷夜掘王墳,三人相約投奔梁山,行至鄆州地面,於祝家店求宿覓食。時遷見店中有酒無肉,竟偷宰店家報曉公雞,被店家發現,卻佯裝不知,巧計戲弄。
時遷偷雞之後,木刀一剁,支解雞身,拾起火紙,代表雞塊,就著燭火,燃燒成焰,趁勢食之,咀嚼間口噴火焰而不致燎泡,俗稱 「吃火」。以紙代雞、變形示意的食雞表演,時稱一絕,煙火吞吐之間,觀眾無不為之驚歎,這是武丑林朝緒的拿手活兒,他身手矯健,表演靈活,在舞台上是搶戲一族,常常把觀眾逗得樂不可支,拍手叫好。
戴立吾主演《石秀探莊》 宋江攻打祝家莊,分遣石秀、楊林刺探祝家莊軍情,石秀喬妝樵夫,遇鐘離老人,假作借宿,盜取祝莊頭目之自翎;值楊林被捉,乃乘亂殺出。欒廷玉追趕不及,時宋江攻打祝家莊前門,中伏不得出,石秀引路花榮箭射紅燈,突出重圍。在老師吳興國慧眼識英雄下,請出老師的老師郭鴻田親授,這齣載歌載舞的武生名劇,在戴立吾苦練兩年 後,將以最正統的戲路出士。此劇講究身架漂亮、功底紮實,戴立吾唱作俱佳,是武生明日之星。
吳興國主演《陸文龍》 南宋初年,金兵來犯。金兀朮之義子陸文龍蹺勇善戰,宋營之中無人能敵。宋臣王佐得知陸文龍乃宋將陸登之子,自斷一臂詐降金兵,暗中欲勸文龍回歸宋朝。此劇演出其中精彩二折-《行圍涉獵》與《八大錘》。陸文龍的扮相俊美,功夫了得,除了身架漂亮浪漫、腰腿柔軟,雙槍的卓絕技巧更考驗演員的功底與藝術造詣。吳興國在展現武生功夫同時也得顯露出少年驕狂之氣,劇中十五歲的陸文龍和岳飛激烈的戰役,與身紮七彩大靠、手持銅錘的大將輪番對陣。舞蹈化的編排,盛大華麗的場面,經常令觀眾沉醉而驚呼連連。約是二十一年前吳興國首度在國家劇院演出此劇,造成一票難求的盛況。今日再挑此劇,乃本著他不斷自我挑戰的精神。重新編寫此劇的名家王安祈表示:盼了許多年,終於能再重溫吳興國的武生丰采。
【傾國之戀】魏海敏主演《貴妃醉酒》 《貴妃醉酒》又名《百花亭》,故事見明人《磨塵學》傳奇,是梅蘭芳大師的經典代表作。貴妃楊玉環是唐明皇最寵愛的妃子,有一天,唐明皇與她相約在百花亭飲酒,楊貴妃欣喜赴會,在亭中久候唐明皇不至,經太監稟報才知明皇轉往西宮梅妃住處,只得獨自飲酒賞花、萬般愁悶,酒入愁腸不覺大醉,滿懷幽怨的在宮女們攪扶下懷然回宮。《貴妃醉酒》是梅派經典劇目,也是梅蘭芳大師的代表作。這齣精采完整的古典歌舞劇融匯了許多身段與步法之美,無論是下腰、臥魚、聞花、鳳舞、雲步、醉步、碎步都獨具匠心,而眼神的變化在本劇亦堪稱一絕,楊貴妃從赴宴時充滿喜悅的眼神;聽聞唐明皇爽約後的嫉恨、空虛、寂寞的眼神,借酒澆愁後,從微醺到不勝酒力的各種眼神,都讓人印象深刻。唱腔以「四平調」為基調來貫徹始終,悅耳創新。而琴師王少卿為梅大師所創編的許多曲牌,使《貴妃醉酒》唱、唸、舞蹈、音樂之整合更加圓融。本劇由梅派摘傳弟子魏海敏,以雍容華貴、自然大方、圓潤甜美的唱腔擔綱演出,賦予古典美人楊貴妃動人典雅、魅力萬丈的舞台形象。
吳興國、魏海敏主演《霸王別姬》 戰國時期,漢高祖劉邦拜韓信為將,起兵伐楚。韓信命李左車詐降,誘楚霸王項羽入山,項羽中計大敗回營。妃子虞姬代為巡營,聽兵心換散,四面楚歌,遂舞劍慰藉霸王,並以劍自刎明志。楚霸王失愛妾後悲憤奮勇殺敵,仍寡不敵眾,兵士無一人倖存,項羽呼嘆無言見江東父老,自刎於烏江河畔。
1994年,吳興國與魏海敏擔綱演出項羽和虞姬,讓法國主流報「世界報」讚譽 :真正的京劇不在北京,而在台灣。1995年,美國紐約時報大幅報導《霸王別姬》演出,並給予男女主角高度評價。魏海敏的虞姬,堅強又柔弱,相悴的性格演來卻是和諧萬分;而吳興國的項羽,不但展現了戰爭時代中,面對愛情與命運的無力和無奈,更將項羽力霸山兮、時不予兮的悲壯詮釋的淋漓盡致。
Alone on a Sandbank starring WU Hsing-kuo FAN Zhong-yu wandered on a bleak mountain, not knowing he had won the first place in imperial examination. He received information from a woodcutter that his wife had been kidnapped but his son was saved by hunters. Searching for his lost wife and child, he entred Ger family only to find that he was being led into a deadly trap. Within this highly-regarded opera, the protagonist performs in a semi-deranged, playful manner from his extreme agony within the story, exposing the ludicrousness of the world’s cruel sense of humor. Honoring his teacher CHOU Chung-rong, WU leads a group of excellent young actors, performing in CHOU’s signature style, paying tribute to this figure who dedicated his life to Beijing Opera. Beautiful Young Heroes “SHI Chien Stealing a Chicken” starring LIN Chao-hsu This is one of the many renowned Water Margin Operas in Qing Dynasty. Sworn brothers YANG Hsiun and SHI Hsiu met SHI Chien digging a tomb of an emperor on their way to Liang Mountain. They stopped at a tavern halfway, and found that the restaurant did not have any meat to serve them, so they came up with the idea of stealing their host's chicken.In this opera, paper is used to represent the chicken The performers put burning paper into their mouths and spit fire, in order to show how hot the food is, which is one of most fascinating features of the play. This ""fire-eating"" move is LIN Chao-hsu’s most famous performance trademark, which the audiences often find entertaining. Loves that Topple Empires “The Tipsy Concubine” starring WEI Hai-min “The Tipsy Concubine” is one of the maestro MEI classics. One day, Yang Guifei and Emperor Tang planed to drink at the Hundred Flowers Pavilion. However, Yang later found out that she got stood up because Emperor Tang was visiting another consort queen. Yang was sad and had no choice but to drink alone. Vexed, she continued drinking but no matter how much she drank, she could not forget. This classical opera contains the beauty of plenty of moves and footwork. Aside from the moves, the subtle changes in the expression of the actress’ eyes the the best part of the opera, ranging in emotion from the joy in the beginning to the envy, sorrow, and emptiness when Yang was informed of Emperor Tang’s absence, to the fragileness under the effect of the a1cohol; all are memorable and impressive. This opera is sung in Sih-Ping tune the who1e time. The erhu player WANG Shao-ching produced many chupais for maestro MEI, making this production more complete and harmonious in terms of singing, reading, dancing and composing. The opera star WEI Hai-min, who has directly leamed from MEI and embodies the character YANG with a classic, moving and poweful stage impression. “Farewell My Concubine” starring WU Hsing-kuo & WEI Hai-min While the states were at war with each other, LIU Bang designated HAN Shin to launch a war against Chu. The leader of Chu, XIANG Yu was tricked by HAN and his army ended up in full rout. Seeing this, XIANG’s concubine Yu put on a sword dance aiming to console XIANG, later she even killed herself with the sword to show her 1oya1ty. Having lost his loving concubine, XIANG strove to fight back, only to be defeated due to the great disparity in the number of troops. At last, XIANG, ashamed and disgraced, committed suicide along the bank of Wu River. In 1994,WEI and WU played YU and XIANG, and was greatly praised by Le Monde , “The real Beijing Opera is not in Beijing, but in Taiwan.” In 1995, New York Times published a story on this opera and gave a highly positive rating on two leading roles.
