《狂想‧洪通》以知名素人藝術家洪通的畫出發，他畫中有話，堅持畫出自身真實感觸，純樸的寫實畫風，既童趣又充滿未來感；圓劇團取材洪通畫中元素，以當代馬戲的演出，加上物件偶戲、影像、光影戲、歌仔戲、電子音樂，將洪通畫中情境與現實作出奇幻的連結與對話，讓畫中元素宛如賦予生命般，活靈活現於舞台。不合比例的扭曲形狀、奇異的馬戲身體和偶戲創造出的物件、影像光影的異想世界，述說出現實世界與心靈底層的紛擾與想望，創造一種慶典般的靈幻狂想，更引發觀眾對這個時代的感觸與悸動。
Self-taught Taiwanese painter, Hung Tung is famous for his fantastical representation of the everyday Taiwanese experience in the Sixties and Seventies. His signature vibrant colors and strong lines depict the burdens and desires at the depth of the human hearts. Inspired by this Taiwanese master's works, Thunar Circus's multimedia production captures his style that's at once unpretentious, whimsical, and futuristic. The contemporary circus performance is complements by puppetry, shadow play, gezaixi or “taiwanese opera,” and electronic music. The show not only brings Hung's paintings to life but connects to 21st-century Taiwanese society. The result is a dreamlike spectacle that will take you on a journey through the past and the present.
