皮亞佐拉輕歌劇《被遺忘的瑪麗亞》

說起探戈，您腦中迴盪出的音樂，大概9成都來自他的手筆：「阿根廷探戈音樂教父」皮亞佐拉，今年適逢百年誕辰紀念，皮亞佐拉將原本流行於街頭的民俗舞曲，重新編創為雅俗共賞的精緻音樂，魅力不歇一世紀，就連馬友友、克萊曼、巴倫波因等古典樂巨星，也都臣服於他而出版探戈專輯。
今年，衛武營與城市當代舞蹈團共同製作，獻上皮亞佐拉破天荒寫出的史上第一部「探戈輕歌劇」─布宜諾斯艾利斯的瑪麗亞，透過超現實的敘事風格，描繪女主角瑪麗亞於阿根廷首都的生死徘徊，暗喻此南美國家的在宗教與歷史上，與西方的拉扯。全劇歌詞為西班牙文，有獨唱家、詩人、舞者及樂手。序曲的手風琴音一下，保證顛覆觀眾對於「歌劇」的各種既定印象，臺港共同製作攜手指揮簡文彬、編舞家黎海寧，再現令人無法抗拒的探戈魅力！
When you think about tango, probably 90 percent of the tango music that reverberates in your head was composed by him. He is Argentina's "King of Tango," Astor PIAZZOLLA, and this year is the centennial of his birth. PIAZZOLLA rearranged popular street dance music into exquisite music that could be enjoyed by scholars and lay-people alike. His music has also proved to be generational; even classical music superstars such as Yo-Yo MA, Gidon KREMER, and Daniel BARENBOIM have not been immune to its charm and have all paid homage to PIAZZOLLA by publishing tango albums. This year, Weiwuying and Hong Kong's City Contemporary Dance Company have joined forces to perform PIAZZOLLA's "María de Buenos Aires,"—the world's first tango opera and a novelty at the time of its writing. A hyper-realistic narrative style is used to depict the life and death experiences of the heroine María in the Argentine capital, which acts as a metaphor for this South American country's religious and historical links to Western culture. As soon as the sound of the accordion in the overture takes off, audience members' established ideas about "Western opera" are sure to be overturned. In an instant, Weiwuying's Recital Hall is transformed into a tiny South American tavern, giving way to a production full of irresistible and tantalizing charm!
