《新世紀》雙打擊協奏曲 二十一世紀來到了，新的世紀帶給人們新的希望和期許，我想作為一個作曲家還是把自己的希望和期許化為音符吧！在這《新世紀》中用了中、西兩位敲擊樂的獨奏家擔任主奏，希望可以表現出我們中華民族的精神和魂魄。

樂曲分四個樂章：第一樂章是「太陽」。太陽是光和熱的源泉，它也代表著信念和力量。第二樂章是「月亮」。月光如水，它讓人們寄託了無限的深情。第三樂章是「星辰」。閃閃的星光引人遐想，它給了無數賢者以智慧，它代表了機敏和希望。第四樂章是大地。大地是我們的母親，地球是全世界人們的家鄉，相信在新的世紀中，地球會越來越小，而人們的心會越來越近。而這也就是我在新世紀即將來臨時唯一祈望吧！

《嘎達梅林》交響詩 辛滬光作於1956年。題材取自於蒙古族民族英雄嘎達梅林領導蒙族人民起義的事跡。作品以嘎達梅林的故事情節逐漸展開。民歌風格的主題展現草原的遼闊優美和蒙族人民的勞動生活。原為交響樂曲，現改編為國樂團演奏。更能表現其民族風格的特色。

《梁祝》小提琴協奏曲 《梁祝》由何占豪、陳鋼作曲。1959年寫成並首演。當時，作曲者是上海音樂學院的青年學生，為了探索交響音樂的民族化，選擇了這一家喻戶曉的民間傳說為題材，吸收越劇中的曲調為素材，成功的創作了這部單樂章帶標題的小提琴協奏曲。作品故事中擇取「草橋結拜」、「英台抗婚」和「墳前化蝶」三個主要情節，分別作為樂曲的呈示部、展開部、再現部的內容，以表達這封青年男女的忠貞愛情，和對封建宗法禮教的控訴和反抗。最後化蝶的描寫富於浪漫主義色彩，反映了人們的願望與理想。作品在音樂形象的塑造上，並非是越劇式的模仿，而是根據協奏曲的形式特點，對原劇內容和曲調進行綜合提煉，加以發展和創造。結構上根據標題內容的需要選用了西洋協奏曲中的奏鳴曲式，完整地表現了戲劇性的矛盾與衝突。在處理上，為了充分發揮交響性效果，使之具有民族特色，吸收了我國戲曲中豐富的表現手法，如在呈示部吸取了戲曲中歌唱性的""對話形式""來表現梁祝相愛的主題，展開部中的""哭靈投墳""則用了京劇中的倒板和越劇中的囂板。在小提琴演奏上，借用了我國民族樂器的某些演奏技法和效果，轉來別有風味。這部協奏曲旋律優美，色彩絢麗，通俗易懂，藝術性很強，被譽為""民族的交響音樂""，國外音樂評論家則稱它是《蝴蝶的愛情》協奏曲，是一部迷人、新奇、具獨創性的作品。

今日演出之樂團部分為瞿春泉先生以原管絃樂曲重新編配而成的國樂團演奏版本。

 

Double Concerto for Percussion Instruments The New Century

The arrival of the twenty-first century brings new hope and resolution to the human beings. As a composer, I try to transform my new hope and resolution into notes. I arrange two percussionists, one performs the traditional Chinese instrument and the other performs the western one, as the soloists. The voices of the Chinese spirit and soul are evoked in the piece.

It is consisted of four movements. The Sun, which is the origin of light and heat and also symbolizes the faith and strength, is the center of the first movement. The feminine Moon is the symbol of the second movement, which shows passion and love. The Stars feature the third movement. Twinkling of the starlight arises up the imagination. It is the source of the wisdom, wit, and hope. The Earth is the main theme of the finale. As the home of all the humans, the Earth plays the role of our mother. Let's sincerely hope, in the twenty-first century, the barriers prevent people to approach each other will continuously break down. Our hearts will be closer more and more.

 

Symphonic Poem Gada Meilin

Written in 1956, Gada Meilin Symphonic poem is based on the story about how the Mongolian hero Gada Meiling led his people to fight against the invaders. The music follows the life history of Gada Meiling in developing. The theme in the folksong style depicts the vastness and beauty of the Mongolian prairie and the living ways of the native people.

Originally written as a symphony, the piece has been adapted for the Chinese orchestra to perform. The piece in latter form shows more about the characteristics of the Mongolian people.

 

Violin Concerto The Butterfly Lovers

Written by Gang Chen & Zhanhao He in 1959, Violin Concerto The Butterfly Lovers was premiered in the same year. At that time, both composers still studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In order to explore the possibilities to compose the symphonic works with typical Chinese hues, they picked up the well-known Chinese legend The Butterfly Lovers as the subject. Folk tunes from the Yue operas are successfully assimilated into the elements for this violin concerto with only one single movement. The exposition, development, and recapitulation sections are adopting the episode s"Becoming sworn brothers on the grass bridge," "Yingtai declined to marry," and "Transfiguring into butterflies in front of the tomb" respectively. This young couple, Shanbo and Yingtai's loyality to each other and their rebellions against the traditions in the feudal times are expressed through the music.

The music, which is based on the folk tunes from the Yue operas, is not an imitated product. It is reconstructed and adapted. Adopting the basic sonata form of the concertos from the Western music system, the controversies and conflicts are dramatically established in The Butterfly Lovers. However, the "cantabile conversation form" from the traditional Chinese operas is used in the main theme of the expositon, which is the love theme for Shanbo and Yingtai. Some elements from the Peiking operas are used in the development. As for the solo part of the violin, the playing techniques used for the traditional Chinese string instruments are adapted. All are added to the credits for this piece being called as the "ethnic symphonic music." All in all, it is a piece full of uniqueness, creativity, beauty, and grandeur.

The orchestra part is specially rearranged by Chun-Quan Qu for the Chinese orchestra.
