高齡90歲的掌中戲大師陳錫煌，是已故掌中戲宗師李天祿長子，由榮獲金馬獎最佳紀錄片的楊力州導演，傾十年之力貼身紀錄陳錫煌偶戲人生的紀錄片《紅盒子》，風靡全臺，受邀至美日等國巡迴播放，也使得2008年創立至今的「陳錫煌傳統掌中劇團」受到熱烈關注。 衛武營邀請國寶大師陳錫煌帶來《老鼠娶親》、《巧遇姻緣》 、《七俠五義之陷空島》三齣經典戲碼，改編自民間故事與傳奇演義，卻能帶來新意。陳錫煌大師一身絕藝，為傳統掌中戲注入新活力。和講究聲光特效的現代偶戲不同，陳錫煌運用細緻的操偶技巧，展現偶戲武打特技如打盾牌與耍盤子等
