《皇帝》是海頓的絃樂四重奏代表作，也是奧地利國歌的變奏曲，主題旋律從容而美麗，伴奏優美的聲部與之互相交錯的音符串成一闖出色的旋律詩；舒伯特的四重奏斷章，走出一貫的古典語言，用他獨特而毫不遲疑的方式鋪陳出綿密而濃深的張力，其所交織在樂章中的特殊美感，令人玩味；《來自我的生命》為作曲家斯梅塔納一生經歷之寫照，從幾經波折的年輕時代、與伴侶的愛戀情深、直至嚐到成功的果實之際卻不幸遭受耳聾之打擊，最終仍無可避免悲慘多外的命運。曾自指揮大師巴夏親臨指導立在讚掌聲有加的 NSO 四位絃樂聲部首席及副首席們：李宣錦、鄧皓教、黃瑞儀、連亦先，將以絃樂四蠶奏中最具特色的樂篇，醞釀生命中美麗的樂章！
Haydn’s Emperor is a variation of Austria’s national anthem as well as his most representative quartet. Its melody has a composed quality to it, in which different parts intertwine into a poetic rhythm. Schubert’s Quartettsatz transcends the conventional musical language, presenting a breath-taking tension in his unique and daring way for the audience to savor. The last piece, From My Life, is the life story of its composer Smetana, who had a tormented youth, passionate romances, eventual success and a striking deafness. Noted conductor Barshai, together with NSO string musicians, will play out these wonderful quartets and let you hear and feel the beauty of life.
