費比恩‧蓋柏首度引起國際樂壇注意，是當他在 2004年贏得相當知名的倫敦朵娜泰拉‧富立克指揮大賽，讓他有機會指揮倫敦交響樂團，並且擔任該團 2004/2005與 2005/2006樂季的助理指揮。隨後他即受邀定期指揮倫敦交響樂團演出。

Conductor-Fabien Gabel ""Fabien Gabel showed himself as much a sentient spirit as a showman conjuring his players with both compelling technique and eloquent body language to intensify and closefocus their playing.""- The Times Fabien Gabel first attracted international attention in 2004 when he won the prestigious Donatella Flick conducting competition in London, giving him the opportunity to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra and become its assistant conductor for the 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons. Subsequently, he has been invited to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra in regular concerts. February 2003 marked his conducting debut with the Orchestre National de France at the Presences Festival. In May 2003, Fabien Gabel was invited back to the Orchestre National to replace Emmanuel Krivine on very short notice in the French premiere of Giya Kancheli's Lonesome for violin and orchestra with Gidon Kremer as soloist. In 2004 he was asked to participate once again in the Radio France Presences Festival by leading the Orchestre National de France in the premiere of Claire Schapira's Requiem. Since then the Orchestre National de France has invited him back regularly; his last two appearances were in July 2007, when he shared the podium with Maestro Kurt Masur, conducting the chamber orchestra in Benjamin Britten's War Requiem for two performances at the St. Denis Festival and in November 2006 when he conducted Charles Koechlin's Livre de la Jungle. Fabien Gabel was first discovered by the Orchestre National and Maestro Kurt Masur in 2002. A frequent guest conductor with the European leading orchestras, Gabel has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Musical Olympus Festival, the Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne (Switzerland), the Orchestre National d'Ile de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre Lamoureux, etc. Gabel has collaborated with such renowned soloists as Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gidon Kremer, Antoine Tamestit, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Richard Galliano, Nikolai Schukoff, Iwona Sobotka, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Sergey Kachatryan, Paul Groves, Olga Guriakova, Hanno Muller-Brachmann, and many others. A native of Paris, and heir to a two-generation tier of accomplished musicians, Gabel began studying trumpet at the age of six. He honed his skills on this instrument at the Musik Hochschule of Karlsruhe and at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, the latter awarding him with a First Prize in trumpet in 1996. For many years he played in various Parisian orchestras under the direction of some of the great conductors of our time such as Pierre Boulez, Sir Colin Davis, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Simon Rattle, and Bernard Haitink. In 2002, Fabien Gabel pursued his interest in conducting at the Aspen Summer Music Festival where he studied with David Zinman. He has been mentored by Armin Jordan, and has had close collaborations with Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis and Paavo Jarvi.
