里昂歌劇院芭蕾舞團成立於1969年，首任總監路易士•艾爾羅﹙Louis Erlo）及續任的二位總監維多利奧•比亞吉﹙Vittorio Biagi）及米高•史貝倫布列克﹙Milko Sparemblek）致力於樹立舞團的風格，既非限定於現代舞碼或古典舞蹈，而是傾向於創新及塑造自我意象；因此，里昂歌劇院芭蕾舞團在法國芭蕾中走出自己獨特而豐沛的風格，不論是在新的原創作品上，或是古典作品的再創新上，都有其成就。 每季超過百場的演出，足跡遍至里昂、洛杉磯、義大利、荷蘭、香港、巴黎、北京、紐約、東京、巴格達、裡約、開羅等地，舞團聲名遠颺國際，展現其國際化舞團的多樣風貌。 里昂歌劇院芭蕾舞團令人震憾且出乎意料之外，它創造了一個新傳統，枉這樣的傳統之蔔，劇場是一個充滿挑戰性、想像力及神奇的地方。
The Lyo. Opera Ballet was founded in 1969 by Louis Erlo, Vittrio Biagi and Milko Sparemblek. Their original motive was to create a new form of ballet dancing, other than classical and contemporary expressions. Based or this knowledge, the LOB has developed its own unique characteristics and style, either in classical masterpieces or new creations. To the audiences, the performances of the LOB have been called challenging and touching at the same time. Besides their regular repertoire, the LOB has staged several commissioned works of talented contemporary choreographers as well, such as Maguy Marin, who is co-director of the LOB at present.
