客家大戲《潛園風月》為臺灣本土歷史改編的劇作，以清治時期竹塹仕紳「林占梅」與他的愛妾「杜淑雅」為故事主角，並以他一手建造的「潛園」為場景，敷演一段淒美的風花雪月與恩怨情仇……林占梅一生效忠朝廷，愛護鄉里，助人無數，卻被陷害到聲名狼藉，甚至要被押解至朝廷。深知前途凶多吉少，林占梅在被押解前夕，對潛園的風月感到不捨；對色雅的深情感到難分；對朝廷的寡義感到無奈，引發對官場人情澆薄的無限惆悵悔恨，最後毅然決然拋卻了功名夢，了斷細數難清的悲愴，安安靜靜地沈睡在潛園裡……
