葛萊美獎次中音薩克斯風大師喬．洛瓦諾，80年代即活躍於爵士樂壇，銜接傳統與現代爵士樂風，毫無所懼地探索新概念與新主題，勇於創新的演奏風格，源源不斷地為爵士樂壇注入活泉，縱橫樂壇30年，地位至今依然無人能取代。2004年首度抵台於兩廳院夏日爵士派對演出，帶來旋風，本次來台絕對在靜謐的夏日午後再度掀起微醺的騷動！
喬．洛瓦諾曾被《紐約時報》、美國爵士權威雜誌《Down Beat》讚譽為「爵士史上最偉大樂手之一」。血液中流著不安分靈魂的他，不喜歡一陳不變，總愛四處旅行與各地樂手合作演出，本次來台將以他於2009年組成的Us Five五重奏形式帶來演出。
Us Five爵士五重奏成軍短短三年，但2010年即獲美國爵士樂記者協會（JJA）以及美國爵士權威雜誌《DownBeat》評選為「最佳爵士團體」；探索爵士巨人查理．帕克（Charlie Parker）音樂作品的專輯《Bird Songs》更在2011年獲葛萊美「最佳爵士專輯」提名，本次在爵士天王洛瓦諾領軍下將以令人折服的飽滿聲音，細膩又犀利的即興，觸動每一個需要好音樂浸潤的心靈。
In 2003, the NTCH launched Summer Jazz, igniting the passion jazz lovers in Taiwan. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the series, which continues to out-passion the sizzling summer. Much appreciation is dedicated to Mercedes-Benz Taiwan for being the exclusive sponsor of the series for six straight years. This year is a gathering of jazz masters. The saxophonist Joe Lovano will lead the Joe Lovano Us Five. With his first visit to Taiwan in 2004 causing a stir, his upcoming visit will surely rock the town!NTCH Summer Jazz Project will feature drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath, jazz trumpeter Michael Mossman, and jazz alto saxophonist Antonio Hart, with Taiwan’s leading artists.The Mingus Big Band will present 20th century jazz standard bearer, Charles Mingus, in a true and faithful way. The band fuses rich harmony and festive blues, making even first-time jazz listeners fall in love with them uncontrollably. Patti Austin will interpret the “First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald’s jazz classic with her magnificent skills and lyrical style. Her first visit to Taiwan will take the audience to a lingering retro jazz atmosphere with her profound and revealing voice.This year’s jazz party will surely feast your ears to your heart’s content!
