平田織佐的《転校生》，創作靈感來自卡夫卡的《變形記》。故事描述某高中女生班上，突然來了一位轉學生，因為她一早醒來，發現自己變成了這所高中的學生。劇中藉由21名高中少女之代言，表現青春的躁動與渴望、認同的窺探與尋找。形式仿若「奏鳴曲」樂章之四幕戲，一如其著作《演劇入門》的要求，並非是要「將這混沌不清的世界，簡化成容易理解的形式，而是讓混沌維持混沌，只是放大觀察的解析度而已」。本劇是《台北筆記》原著《東京筆記》之姊妹作，展現平田織佐「同時多發」之劇場風格。
Oriza Hirata's Transfer Student is a classic among Japanese high-school dramas. Inspired by The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, this work speaks through the voices of 21 high school girls to express the restlessness and desires of youthful souls as well as their glimpses into and searches of identity. Formatted like the movements of a sonata, the four-act play presents a world of chaos as it is but examines it in finer detail. It also demonstrates the simultaneous dialogues featuring the playwright's theatrical style.
