路易斯．阿姆斯壯，絕對是爵士樂最有代表性的音樂家了。當我們在準備2018年音樂會的時候，兩廳院與我都開始思考，除了將來自紐約的頂尖爵士音樂家們與國內活躍的爵士音樂家們聚集在一起之外，這個為了夏日爵士派對而生的樂團，還可以為喜歡爵士樂的觀眾們他曾為費城交響樂團、路易斯．安那愛樂、喬．漢德生大樂團、卡內基音樂廳爵士樂團等樂團擔任作曲及編曲。並與芝加哥室內樂團、瑙姆堡交響樂團、多明尼加國家交響樂團合作，演出古典音樂及當代古典音樂作品。
Louis Armstrong is definitely the most representative jazz musician of all time. When we were preparing for the 2018 NTCH Summer Jazz Party, both the NTCH and I started to ask ourselves: As a band that was custom-made and born for this annual jazz festival, what else could the NTCH Summer Jazz Project bring to the table for our jazz-loving audiences in addition to what we already do, which is inviting the biggest names from New York to perform alongside with the local talents? That's what led us to come up with themes for our concerts. Not only did we want these experiences to provide a chance for the "party-goers" to enjoy the formidable instrumental and performing skills of the musicians, but also to offer an opportunity to introduce to them some
of the most influential styles, trends, periods, and people in the jazz history. We were truly lucky to have Michael Philip Mossman, an internationally acclaimed composer, arranger, trumpeter, and educator, as our music director, who made the customized repertoire possible. Following the great success of "the Brazilian style in the afternoon" last year, this year the gala pays tribute to the forever classics of Louis Armstrong.
